NBA All Star Game Thoughts

1- David Lee got screwed!!!! Wow, I really didn't see that one coming. Al Hortford does not deserve to be in the game and it will show when he plays like 3 or 4 minutes.

2- My favorite part of the weekend, watching the young all stars dominate the rookie sophomore game then come in to the All Star game and try to hang with the best. This year Derrick Rose (who just happens to be my favorite player currently) is going to be the only guy in the Rookie Sophomore game who is an All Star, so look for him to put up some big numbers.

3- Speaking of the rookie sophomore game, its gonna be brutal. The sophomores are so much better its not even funny. Also, Ty Lawson got screwed. Don't punish him because he is on a great team. In fact, the all star game was heavily influenced by team record. Why is the rookie sophomore game any different.

Kentucky Goes Down!

Thoughts on the game...

1- Good loss for Kentucky. They are so young that they thought they could win any game just by shear talent. Guess what Kentucky, you can't.

2- Devan Downey is a ball hog. Devan Downey is a star. Honestly the guy puts up ridiculous shots all the time, but he makes them when they count. He was putting up crazy, absurd shots down the stretch and watched as they went in. It is nice to see a little known player like Downey to get his moment in the national spotlight.

3- Really Patrick Patterson, 4 shots in 35 minutes. Really? What is that. This guy is a great player but he is just not aggressive enough and Kentucky's offense just doesn't get him enough shots. Coach Cal really needs to work this out.

4- So how good is DeMarcus Cousins... well when he finally plays a ton (34 minutes, he averages 20.9) he put up eye opening stats. 27 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks. Keep that guy on the floor!

5- The parity in college basketball is amazing this year. The tournament is going to be one of the best ever!

Why College Basketball is the best sport out there.

1- UConn has not beaten a ranked team and is without their coach and still beats the number 1 team in the nation (Texas).

2- Duke revenges their 74-47 loss last year at Clemson by smacking Clemson in the 2nd half in route to a 60-47 victory.

3- Upset City Baby! On any given night a team can go down. Think Tennessee, Kansas State, and MSU (almost).

4- Watching 5-9 (at best) Devan Downey absolutely take over the South Carolina Florida game.

5- Chandler Parsons, for the win.... YES!

Also, watch out for the MWC! BYU only won by a point yesterday and league play has been like that this whole season. They are gonna do some damage in the post season.

Welcome Followers!

Welcome to the home of the B:Ball Guru! On this page you will find thoughts on everything current in basketball as well as links to interesting articles that I find.

Let me start out with my first topic: Why David Lee is going to be an NBA All Star.

1- He is putting up the best numbers (19 and 11) on a Knicks team that everyone is rooting for at the moment (it is always nice to see a team that has been dreadful the past few years actually being respectful).

2- He is THE GUY this year that everyone wants in the all star game (Think Mo Williams 2009, David West 2008, etc). If you listen to a discussion on the East All Stars by anyone and David Lee comes up, his name is followed instantly by "He is an All Star, no doubt"

3- He has gotten the Kobe Bryant seal of approval. Immediately following the Lakers Knicks game on Friday, Bryant was asked about David Lee and he responded with "I think he's an all star." Once Kobe is pulling for you, you know you are in.

So on Thursday, Knicks fans will be happy to know that their embaressing streak of not having an all star since 2001 will finally be over. Happy day.
